– The Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Program (PAMP) has made it easier for consumers with smart phones to find local farm markets when they are “on the go.” Now, when consumers access the PAMP website, pennsylvaniaapples.org
, using a mobile device, they will immediately be redirected to a mobile version of the site where they can search for Pennsylvania farm markets based on location or apple variety.
“Our new mobile website not only makes it easier for consumers to find their favorite varieties of fresh apples,” said Karin Rodriguez, executive director of the Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Program, “but they can also download directions and specific information for each market, like hours and special events.”
In addition to the farm market search capabilities, the mobile site includes a recipe section, as well as information about popular varieties. “Another great feature of the mobile site is the apple varieties page,” said Rodriguez. “If a consumer is at the farm market and isn’t sure if a specific variety is best used for baking or eating fresh, they can easily access that information for our most popular varieties with a few clicks on their phone.”
During the months of September and October, PAMP has also posted billboards across the state and is airing radio spots to help promote the state’s farm markets. Ads encouraging consumers to “Find Fresh” are also seen throughout Pennsylvania on the popular websites allrecipes.com
